Many of you know I love Apple and Google. The first computer I ever purchased was a Mac, and I’ve never bought anything else. I have an iPod touch that is more beloved to me than my phone. I’ve been using Google literally since it came out. I had Gmail before it went public, and currently use Google Voice and Google Wave, both unreleased as of yet.
Today I want to tell you about Google Voice. Its awesome. It’s one number that I can use forever. Like Gmail, it is web based. I can manage my contacts, texts, voicemail, etc. online. I chose a phone number in the are code I picked, and even got to pick the final four digits (ZACH/9224).
Here’s a few of the cool features:
-calls can be forwarded to any land line or mobile, even multiple at once. ergo, even if I switch mobile carriers I can keep my google #
-online voicemail. I can listen to my voicemail on any computer, and read a text transcript (which is also sent as an SMS to my mobile)
-call screening/recording. I have the option of accepting the call (and even recording the conversation), send to voicemail, listening to the caller leave the message (with option option of answering at any time)
Google voice, just another reason why Google is awesome. Oh, they also gave me a widget in the sidebar. Enter your name and number, click connect, and Google Voice will ring your phone, then connect you to me when you answer. Or if you just want to call me my number is 843.321.ZACH
PS- If you have my direct number it will still work. Just don’t give it out to anyone please. (Misti)

Awesome. word is Google Voice will someday be a full on VoIP provider (probably at a cost, they spent 35 million!)
but it's something to look forward to.
I hope so. I'd pay for Google Mobile service. It would probably be cheap, and one day integrate seamlessly with the nationwide WiFi that is inevitable. Goodbye cell phones. Oh, and the Google phone should be pretty awesome, though I predict I'll still be wanting an iPhone.

I love Google Voice but the transcription SUCKS big time. This service would be amazing if they could get that right. Most of the time its not even close.
yeah it does. but then again, you gotta remember that we're just using the beta version, it's not even released to the public. plus it's free. can't really complain when we're getting to use all the other cool features for the purpose of working out the bugs for google.
