Tuesday night I went to Worship on the Horseshoe. It was a very non-official, grassroots style experience. No church or organization sponsored it. It was just a few students who decided to get together to sing and pray. Word got out on facebook and about 200 students showed up.
It was wonderful to be out there on the horseshoe with fellow Christian. No churches. No student organizations. No denominations.
I hope this gathering continues to spread across our camps. Who knows what will happen.
This would be an online archive of audio files of sermons from across the world. Churches could upload them and put tags for categorizing. Then if a person wanted to listen to a sermon on a particular subject he could type in “and be given a list. Book, subject, denomination, pastor, church, region: the possibilities are endless for indexing.
Sure, many churches put their sermons online, but this would be an easy central way for people to access many different churches’ sermons. I’m sure something could be done like this on existing websites such as YouTube or myspace, but I think it might be a good tool to have a dedicated site.
Thoughts?
1. Is it a good idea?
2. If so, has it been done yet?
3. If not, what is the best way we can get it done?
4. What could make this idea even better?
Before the death of the late Billy Mays, I was a big fan of the TV show pitchmen. Each week the program showcased several inventors that sought to get their invention marketed by Mays and Andrew Sullivan.
Last night I was sitting thinking “What if there was a website that emulated this show?”
Inventors could put their ideas on the site. They could be ranked by users looking to buy new gadgets. Manufacturers and marketers could use this site to find their next new product. I think it could do for inventions what myspace and youtube have done for music. Provide a no cost venue for showcasing their talent. Word of mouth would help the best ideas get the most coverage, and the cream of the crop could be picked by the top companies in the industry.

Creative Commons is a type of license used to allow artists to share works and ideas freely. I want to make this a new category here on my blog. In it I’ll put forth my ideas and work. Anyone is free to take it and run with it. I want to inspire, and to spark discussion. With each idea I want yall to answer 4 questions:
1. Is it a good idea?
2. If so, has it been done yet?
3. If not, what is the best way we can get it done?
4. What could make this idea even better?
First idea:
International chat room. This chat room would have the ability to do real time translation between any language to another. This would allow people to “chat in tongues.” Each user could type and see responses in his own language. This could allow for easier communication between international friends or 21st century “pen pals.” It might also help small businesses without a budget for translators to effectively communicate with international partners.

I recently decided to try my hand at some graphic design. I’ve been making concept art for practice. Today I decided to make this one for a series called Blood Covenant. After I made this I decided to actually read about the history of blood covenants.
Turns out one of the ancient practices was to seal a covenant by both men cutting their arms and letting the other suck their blood. A bit gross, but it made me think. In Matthew 26:28, during the Last Supper Jesus talks about His blood “of the covenant” the is poured out for the forgiveness of sins.
In the traditional blood covenant both parties spilled blood. My question is are we supposed to spill our blood as part of the covenant with Christ? Should this come in the form of sacrificing our lives in His service? Am I way off here?
I’m sorry, this post doesn’t really have a conclusion or inspirational challenge, just an open ended question. Please give me your input!
Matthew 28:17 And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted.
All of the disciples worshipped, even the ones that doubted. Hypocrites? Maybe so. Are we any better? Maybe not. How often do we worship God in church on Sunday, then doubt Him the next day. Doubt that He’ll get us through a tough day. Doubt He’ll provide for our needs.
The disciples saw Jesus in person, but Jesus says the those who believe without seeing are blessed. I never challenge yall to anything I don’t attempt to improve in my own life. Today’s challenge: Remember the God you worshipped on Sunday when Monday with all of its problems comes along.
Last week my friend Alvin died. His short life made a huge impression on me and our friends that would take a whole book to describe. We agreed that he set the bar high, a stellar example of a Christian walk towards which we all should strive.
I want to give yall one snippet from the funeral service, a line from Alvin, and a challenge to all of us. “Whatever it takes.” He told his pastor he wanted to do whatever it took to see his friends and family come to Christ. At the funeral, ten of those people did.
Alvin lived 21 years. It is not uncommon for us to ask why. Why was a life cut so short. We want a reason. Often we never get that reason. This weekend we got ten. Ten more souls that will be in heaven. Alvin would have laid down his life for one, but today he is leading the angels in rejoicing over these ten.
Challenge: Are you willing to do “Whatever it takes” ? I honestly don’t know if I can say that I am, but I’m making it my prayer that I can be.
I saw signs all over SC this weekend saying a DUI crackdown was in effect. Shouldn’t they always be working to stop drunk driving? If it’s a crackdown now, does that mean that other times they are a bit lax in the enforcement? Also, this is terrible timing for me. It’s the middle of allergy season, and I am very likely to sneeze several time and swerve out of my lane, giving the illusion of drunk driving.
Here it is, a few days late. Just one newcomer to the list, an up and coming musician I met out of Nashville. Yall should check him out!

Two years ago I went to Boston for spring break. While there I lost my knife. Or so I thought. I found it a few weeks later in the bottom of my backpack. The same backpack I had taken on the flight home. I was telling a friend this story the other week in the airport before flying to NYC. 5 minutes later I found a knife in my bag I thought I had taken out. After we had gone through security. On the return trip, I decided to try and get a knife through security on purpose. It was an old broken knife anyways, so I didn’t care if it got confiscated. It didn’t.
I’ve now gotten a knife past the TSA 3 times, twice completely by accident. I’ve now decided that its somewhat of game. I want to see how many times I can get that knife through security. I’m putting notches on it.
Take away from this story:
1. Always be alert. The TSA is not keeping us safe. They’re just the illusion of security keeping at ease the minds of the United Sheeple of America. They’re more likely to keep a water bottle off of a plane than a knife [happened on mine].
2. Why on earth would anyone want the same government responsible for the pile of incompetence that is the TSA get closer to a takeover of our healthcare system?
PS
I wish I could get paid to find ways to exploit security systems in order to better train guards.
