Principle of the Path

I want to take this time to plug a book I’m reading now called “The Principle of the Path” by Andy Stanley. I haven’t even finished it yet and I’m already finding it useful in my life.

He points out a lot of obvious things about which most of us never think. The whole gist of the book is that every decision we make is a step on a path. And every path has a destination. You’re going to end up at the end of the path of your decisions. Sounds simple cause it is. Make wise decisions now and you’ll walk down a good path.

Stanley references Solomon in the book as an obvious example of wisdom. The main idea of the chapter I read today was ask others for advice. Even Solomon, the wisest man ever asked for advice, and tells us we should do the same.

So I give you the same challenge I’m giving myself. Stop relying on yourself to make good choices along your path. Choose someone wiser (usually older) that has been through the same thing. It is also better to find a person that has achieved the outcome you want, so they can give you wise advice on what to do.

Also, grab a copy of “Principle of the Path” and read it now. It’s a great book, I promise you won’t regret reading it.
