TV Molech

Isaiah 44:9a  All who fashion idols are nothing, and the things they delight in do not profit

The OT talks extensively about idol worship by Israel. After repenting and coming back to God it never took them long before they were back to their idols. It’s easy to wonder why this was such a problem with the children of Israel. The church today doesn’t have that problem. Or do we?

We don’t make statues of burn our children. What are our idols, though? What do we put above God? Do we waste time surfing the internet for stuff that has no eternal importance? Do we get so engrossed in sports scores that won’t matter at all next season? Do we sacrifice our children by letting the TV babysit them?

These are all things that can be put before God and have no profit. We only have a short time here on earth and need to make the most of it. Spend your time on the things that truly matter.
